The Corporate and Community Training Institute (CCTI) at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ River State ¹û¶³´«Ã½ (¹û¶³´«Ã½) is offering national certification preparatory classes in medical coding and billing for those ready to advance their career within the medical field or for anyone who wants to enhance knowledge in current professional coding and billing services.

These courses are scheduled to start this spring:

The  class starts on April 16 and concludes on June 10. Classes will be held at the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Chastain Campus in Stuart on Tuesdays from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. This course provides an overview of the rapidly changing healthcare landscape. New payment models that focus on quality and risk continue to increase their weight over the current fee-for-service model, and programs such as MIPS, CMS-HCC, HHS-HCC, and Medicaid CDPS face direct impact from these changes. Providers and payers alike will look to expert coders and auditors to ensure patient risk accurately document and report employing the ICD-10-CM coding system. Course cost is $798.

The  class starts on April 24 and concludes on July 10. Classes will be held at the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Chastain Campus in Stuart on Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Students will learn the medical billing process which includes various payer rules for Medicare, Medicaid, Workman’s Compensation, and commercial carriers and more. They will learn how to properly complete CMS-1500 professional billing form, UB-04 billing form for outpatient hospital; appropriate APC assignments and ABN requirements and incident to and supervision rules for non-physician providers. Course cost is $1,598.

The class begins April 27 and concludes July 10. Classes will be held at the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Main Campus in Fort Pierce on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This course introduces students to the medical coding systems in use to report both professional (physician) and hospital services at healthcare entities where physicians and practitioners treat patients.  Students will learn how to code using CPT (procedures), ICD-10-CM (diagnoses) and HCPCS (supplies) coding systems, and how to comply with national fraud and abuse initiatives for all coding disciplines. The class will also touch on insurance and reimbursement methodologies. Course cost is $1,598.

Instructor Daria Bonner, CHCRA, CHCA, CCP, RMC is the President & CEO of Xact Healthcare Solutions, Inc. with more than 20 years of experience in medical coding, billing, compliance, and health information technology. Bonner has been preparing students for National certification for more than 20 years, with an overall pass rate of 98% and more than 800 students who went on to obtain National certifications.
