Commercial Vehicle Driving
The Commercial Driving program through the School of Adult and Continuing Education prepares students for entry-level employment as truck drivers. The 160-hour course of instruction focuses on safety issues, federal rules and regulations, private one-on-one driver training instruction, acquiring the class "A" CDL License, and local or over-the-road job search considerations.
What to Expect
Our full-time program starts with 40 hours of on-campus instruction in Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) theory.
After successful completion of ELDT, the second, third, and fourth weeks consist of a mixture of practical instruction and observation for range and road skills training.
The practical behind the wheel range instruction, along with pre-trip and post trip inspection, will be done on the range located at the St. Lucie County Fair Grounds, 15601 Midway Rd., Ft. Pierce, Florida.
Hours are typically scheduled between 7am to 5:30pm, but evening and weekend may be available. Part time, flexible schedule instruction is available over an 11-week period. New classes start monthly.
