Lincoln Park Career Pathways Initiative
Residents of the Lincoln Park community in Fort Pierce, Florida, can now apply to train for one of three highly sought-after industry certifications, tuition-free, at the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ River State ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Blackburn Educational Center. In addition to tuition-free instruction, eligible students may also receive financial assistance to defray costs student transportation, meal stipends, and child care.
The certification programs are made possible through the Lincoln Park Career Pathways Initiative, a collaborative effort between St. Lucie EDC, CareerSource Research Coast (CSRC), Treasure Coast Manufacturers Association (TCMA) and ¹û¶³´«Ã½ River State ¹û¶³´«Ã½ (¹û¶³´«Ã½), and is sponsored by Allegany Franciscan Ministries through the Common Good Initiative.
Lincoln Park Career Pathways Programs
Training for the three Lincoln Park Career Pathways programs occur at the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Blackburn Educational Center located at 3002 Avenue D in Fort Pierce. Each eight-week programs are in growing and expanding fields, providing students opportunities for lifelong careers.
Fast Track to Manufacturing/Certified Production Technician (CPT)
This program includes training in safety, production processes, maintenance awareness and quality assurance. In addition, there are classes in blueprint reading, measurement, OSHA 10 certification and employment readiness. The Fast Track Program is a blended classroom and online program designed around an initial set of technical skills with the goal for students to become a Certified Production Technicians (CPT) and earn interviews for employment.
Certified Logistic Associate (CLA)
This blended classroom and online program provides the foundational knowledge needed to understand the business of supply chain and related skills. Training includes lessons in the warehouse and shipping supply chain environment, safety, safe equipment operation, material handling equipment, quality control, workplace communication, teamwork and problem-solving and the use of computers.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
The nursing assistant program provides training for basic care in hospitals, nursing homes, physicians’ offices, clinics and in-home care. This program teaches essential skills such as assisting patients with activities of daily living, taking vital signs, monitoring and reporting patient activity, setting up medical equipment, assisting with medical procedures, and providing physical, social and emotional support. Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to sit for certification in the State of Florida to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.
